Our aim is to promote and maintain the health, safety and welfare of the University of Plymouth staff.

We offer a range of services to support staff including:

  • support for staff returning from any period of sickness
  • health surveillance under COSHH 2002
  • advice and support for disabled staff
  • confidential appointments for staff on health issues
  • rehabilitation plans/fitness for work advice
  • workplace/workstation assessments
  • drivers and health screening
  • employment screening.​

World Diabetes Day 2018

The 14 November 2018 is World Diabetes Day. The number of people with diabetes is expected to rise to 522 million by 2030. Diabetes is a leading cause of heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney failure and lower limb amputation. 80 per cent of cases of type 2 diabetes are preventable through the adoption of a healthy lifestyle. 1-in-2 people with diabetes remain undiagnosed.On the 14 November the University's Occupational Health Department is offering employees a free diabetes test along with advice and guidance between 10.30 and 12.30. No appointment is necessary – just turn up! The test is a simple finger-prick test.
