A ground-breaking collaborative initiative which uses a mobile app to measure the quality of cultural experiences is set to transform appreciation of the arts and enhance engagement between individuals and cultural organisations.

The ARTORY app ensures that you always catch your favourite shows, get tipped off about a movie coming to town and be invited when a new exhibition opens.

Set your preferences and get your personal guide. You can see what other people are recommending, what’s nearby you now, or search via date, venue or event.

Artory enables you to have your finger on the pulse, rewarding you with Art Miles® when you check-in at a venue, or tell us what you think of an event you attended.

You can accumulate your Art Miles® and start by redeeming them in any of the participating venues and organisations citywide, for drinks, discounts and VIP offers.

Get started by downloading the app (10 points), completing your profile (15 points), and checking into a venue (5 points), and you can accumulate your first 40 Art Miles®  to redeem for a hot drink.

Artory has been designed and developed by i-DAT (the Institute of Digital Art and Technology) at University of Plymouth in partnership with graduate spin-out company Elixel and eleven of Plymouth’s leading arts and cultural organisations including Peninsula Arts.

It aims to become a one-stop what’s on guide to arts, theatre and music events, but its interactive nature means users can receive personalised listings and incentivised offers, while cultural venues and organisations can get feedback about their events and how they might be improved.

This city-wide initiative has been produced by i-DAT and Plymouth Arts Centre with a number of collaborative partners: Peninsula Arts at University of Plymouth, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Barbican Theatre, Plymouth City Museum and Gallery, The Gallery at Plymouth College of Art, KARST, Ocean Studios, Take a Part, Plymouth Dance and Plymouth Culture. It is funded by Plymouth Arts Centre, i-DAT, Elixel, Destination Plymouth, Plymouth City Council and Plymouth Culture.
