Helge Mruck, MA Contemporary Art Practice Karst 2019

We believe in professional practice environments through co-learning between staff and students. We offer a suite of specialist programmes that span the arts and photography, design, illustration and publishing, architecture and building technology, digital art and design fabrication. Our ethos is to support students’ individual interests in a collective studio centred environment. We believe in live projects by allowing opportunities for students to engage with creative industries and practitioners throughout their studies.

We will support you to start up your own individual and/or collective brand through collaborative practices with industry via incubator programmes and help you develop links to multidisciplinary research projects and further postgraduate study across faculty, University and wider industry. Our teaching is informed by staff research and creative practice and connected to social innovation.

We have a state of the art digital fabrication suite, printmaking, wood and metal workshops, this is in addition to sophisticated and specialist software on-site and off-site (at the Royal William Yard) found at our studio spaces.

Through our staff’s active role within the city’s creative industries, we facilitate co-curation and co-design opportunities of large scale exhibitions and design work with local designers and architecture practices as well as local art agencies such as Plymouth Arts Centre, KARST, TR2 Theatre Royal, the Barbican Theatre and the Royal William Yard. We regularly support students’ external engagement and collaborative projects with the Plymouth Arts Weekender among other regional, national and international events.

We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Plymouth and working with you to help you achieve your creative and professional aspirations.
