Dr Naomi Tyrrell

Visiting Research Fellow

School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (Faculty of Science and Engineering)

Most recently I have been a Senior Research Fellow on the ESRC-funded project 'Here to Stay? Identity, Citizenship and Belonging Among Settled Eastern European Migrant Children and Young People in the UK' (http://www.migrantyouth.org). This project has been extended until January 2019. In 2016 I resigned from my Lectureship in Human Geography at the University of Plymouth so that I could work part-time.

My research and teaching interests are in the broad field of population geography, with a focus on family migration processes and children's geographies. My recently completed projects have been focused on the mobilities of armed forces families (HMS Heroes and IHC, Plymouth University), researcher mobility and family life in Europe (funded by the European Commission), the impacts of child migration on later-life migration (funded by British Academy and Leverhulme Trust), and language and intergenerational relationships in migrant families (funded by Plymouth University).
