It's Your Future – Make It Count

From 20 to 31 May 2024, all University of Plymouth students will have access to a new programme of events and initiatives which will allow you to enhance your skills and stand out from the crowd, try something new and broaden your horizons, and make new connections with other students. 
Activities are based around the core University of Plymouth Compass themes: 
  • Critical and creative learner
  • Global and sustainable citizen 
  • Competent and confident professional 
  • Resilient and thriving individual

From Spotlight to Strictly: An Audience with Angela Rippon CBE

British broadcasting legend and proud Plymothian Angela Rippon has a career that stretches back almost 60 years and – if her recent star turn on Strictly Come Dancing is anything to go by – shows no sign of slowing down. 
Join us for an entertaining afternoon, looking back on highlights from across the decades as she shares memories of working with everyone from Morecambe and Wise to Claudia Winkleman, in conversation with former BBC Radio Devon presenter David FitzGerald, followed by questions from the audience.

Angela Rippon

Live from LA – making movie magic with 'Team Deakins'

Acclaimed cinematographer Sir Roger Deakins was born in Devon and is the winner of two Oscars and five BAFTA Awards. He has worked on everything from the James Bond film Skyfall (one of five collaborations with Sam Mendes), and The Shawshank Redemption, to multiple movies with the Coen brothers and Denis Villeneuve. Together with his wife and creative work partner, James Deakins, Sir Roger will discuss his life and career, with particular reference to Kundun (1997, directed by Martin Scorsese) and Ethan and Joel Coen's The Man Who Wasn't There (2001).
This online interview and Q&A is being hosted on Zoom by University lecturers Allister Gall and Mark Carey, with 'Team Deakins' joining live from Los Angeles.
